Item/Description: Early Mexican silver " Los Cocos " hand-wrought silver bar pin. The double ball / orb design was originally made by Justo Coco Castillo, a Mexican silversmith and student of William Spratling, circa the 1940s. The design was used by other silversmiths but is largely attributed to Castillo.
The two spherical orbs, resembling berries, are wrapped by trefoil petal / leaves. Each alternating with circles with rope like design. Modernist and geometric combined with organic elements. Old hinged pin with old C clasp Hallmarked: Silver, Mexico.
Material: Sterling Silver
Dimensions: Length: 2 3/4"; Width: 1"; approximately 20 grams
Condition: Good. Signs of use, age and surface wear including dings, dents, scratches, scuffs, heavy tarnish, bending to pin. Holds securely in C-clasp.
