Fancy-painted Windsor Rocking Chair, America, 19th century. Curved tablet crest stencil- and brush-painted with fruit and pateras, raised over seven molded spindles and conforming stiles, the latter joined to carved hardwood arms supported by three short spindles, all round-tenoned to oblate shaped seat raised on splayed bamboo-turned legs mounted on slim saber-shaped rockers, (later paint), 55cm wide, 71cm deep, 111cm high (22 1/4in wide, 28in deep, 44in high).
