Description
Description: An antique Hole-In-One golf trophy dated June 12, 1926, and likely commissioned by Boggs & Buhl of Pittsburgh, PA. The possibly original dimple golf ball, a Spalding Kro-Flite, is supported by three metal golf clubs which replicate the style of the hickory shaft era. Two clubs being smooth-face lofter clubs, the third being a MacGregor period style driver, with a brass crown weight and full lead backweight. The metal grips are finely detailed to display the thick leather-wrap style of the early 20th century. All are mounted on a textured faux-grass metal plate with a center 'hole', above a wood socle plinth. The stylized brass plate is inscribed: "Boggs & Buhl Hole-In-One Trophy Won by George Gordon, Monongahela Valley Country Club, Hole #9 - June 12 1926, 245 Yds", Boggs & Buhl being an iconic and highly regarded former Pittsburgh PA Department Store (1869-1958)
