RUSSIAN IMPERIAL LARGE SILVER CENTERPIECE, TROMPE LOEIL TECHNIQUE
A Russian footed gilt silver centerpiece. The piece is modeled as a fabric napkin with fringe lying on a bowl featuring etched reticulate and floral ornaments, manufactured using the trompe l'oeil technique. The silver borders are decorated with engraved medallions, swirls, and geometric ornaments.
HALLMARKS: with Russian hallmarks, stamped with silver '84' marks, Imperial warrant, and 'KHLEBNIKOV' in Cyrillic for famous silver master Ivan Petrovich Khlebnikov (Postnikova-Loseva # 1298) - please see information below.

HISTORY of SALES: A few years ago, silver centerpieces made by trompe l'oeil technique were sold on Live Auctioneers and Christie's for$6,500 (also made by Khlebnikov, 11 years ago), $8,088 (7 years ago), $12,303 (13 years ago), and $62,500 (11 years ago) - please refer to the screenshots for details. Today, prices have significantly increased compared to those of 5-10 years ago.
INVESTMENT: This is a true investment and heirloom-quality piece of the highest level, as it will continue to increase in value each year.
WARRANTY: The buyer has 5 days to inspect items for originality, valued at up to $5,000, and 10 days for items valued at $5,000 or more. Items can be returned to the seller for a refund; please refer to the Terms for more details.
NO RESERVE: More than 70% of all auctioned items have NO reserve price. Among the remaining items, there is a very reasonable reserve price set.
PAYMENT: Payment can be made with a Credit Card, Zelle, PayPal (for international bidders), Wire Transfer, Check, or Money Order. You can also suggest other methods of payment. Canadian winners can make payments to a Canadian Bank in CAD via Check, Money Order, Wire Transfer, or Interac e-Transfer.

To get started, please make a 10% deposit, and the item will be reserved for you. 10% means - if you won an item for $550, your minimum first payment equals $55. Simply make the deposit using any method listed on the invoice. The remaining balance can be paid in installments over up to 6 months at your convenience. HISTORY: Khlebnikov was an Imperial Russian jewelry firm, founded ca. 1867 by Ivan Khlebnikov in Saint Petersburg, but transferred to Moscow in 1871. The business was highly successful and received the Imperial Warrant, producing work of originality and highest quality using decoration in the traditional Russian style on many pieces. Enamel was a speciality, especially plique-a-jour, but also cloisonne. Demand for its work was high and in 1882 it employed 200 craftsmen. The business succumbed at the time of the Russian Revolution.
