Offered here for your consideration are two vintage trade bead necklaces. These gorgeous necklaces are highlighted with trade beads in red, blue and white. The larger polychrome beads are interspersed between solid red beads, adding nice detail to these pieces. These necklaces are strung on wax cords and the ends conjoined with knots finish them off nicely. Native American trade bead jewelry and adornments were popular with tribes across the North American continent, coming into use through trade beginning in the 1500s. Trade beads were common in the fur industry, and Lewis and Clark also used trade beads to do business with the cultures they encountered on their three-year journey westward.
