Description
German. 1940s. Tinplate, plastic, fabric. Toy 959 (mouse with ladder) is marked "U.S.-Zone Germany". Post-war German manufacturers were banned from exporting goods. Americans occupying the territories permitted the sale and export of toys so long as they were marked "Made in U.S. Zone Germany". This marking was used from the mid to late 1940s. Marked, on sides of feet. 5" height. The Howie Meyer Legacy Collection.
Condition
Mouse with ladder (#959), dancing couple mouse (#960), and mouse with dunce cap (#970). 970 toy is missing an umbrella and shows holes and some degradation to felt clothing and top of cap. 960 toy requires a hula skirt, has some oxidation to tinplate feet, clothing shows some degradation and holes and there is some fading and wear to both figures. 959 shows some scuffs on plastic ladder. Windups all tested and working.
