Antique Chinese Pewter & Yixing Clay Teapot with Mutton Fat Jade Handle, Spout and Finial
Location of Manufacture: China
Period of Manufacture: Qing Dynasty (1644-1912)
Dimensions: 7" from handle to spout ; 3 5/8"(h)
Weight: 1 pound, 5 ounces
For your consideration is an antique Chinese Qing Dynasty pewter teapot embellished with jade handle, spout and finial. The interior of the pot is lined with yixing pottery - well known for its absorptive properties which enhance the flavor of tea use after use. One side of the hexagonal teapot is decorated with an engraved floral decoration while the opposite side is covered with Chinese calligraphy, likely a poem. The interior yixing liner of the tea pot carries a 4-character impressed mark.
Provenance: From the estate of a renowned antiques dealer in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Condition
Please use all images as addendum to condition statement. The teapot is in overall excellent condition with no damage, missing pieces, instabilities or repairs. The only exception is some normal surface wear in the form of oxidation and light scuffs and scratches. The interior rim of the pewter lid is slightly bent out of shape (easily repaired, if so desired). There are also small edge chips (flea bites) on the jade components that are visible under magnification but are not overall distracting. The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free of defects, imperfections, restoration, wear and tear, or the effects of aging.
