Approaching Storm (a.k.a. Noon)
1938
Published in 1938 for The Print Club of Cleveland, this lithograph in an edition of 200 prints is signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower right and listed as Fath catalog number 25.
The Print Club of Cleveland has, for more than 100 years, has sought to educate the public about collecting fine prints and worked to help build the Cleveland Museum of Art's print collection.
Benton's comments in Fath about Approaching Storm read: Hill plowing in North Carolina. Drawing and a painting of subject done in 1938. Painting was sold by A.A.A. in 1939. Litho is much like painting. Do not know present location of painting.
Image measures 9.5 x 13, sheet size 12 x 16, the frame is 18.5 x 21 inches.
Provenance: Private collection, Kansas City, Missouri.

Condition
Very good to fine condition, the full untrimmed sheet, not laid down, no damage, stain, punctures, tears or repair. Paper tape remains top front of the sheet. Two very tiny pinpoint spots of foxing or paper impurity lower right margin.
