Antique Chinese Gold Wrapped Thread Embroidered Silk Robe Depicting Nine Dragons - Qing Dynasty
For your consideration is a Chinese Qing Dynasty blue ground silk robe embroidered with (9) gold imperial dragons to include Buddhist, shou and other auspicious symbols. The presence of the hidden ninth dragon on the interior of the robe (when fastened closed), denoted the wearer of this robe to be of 'high rank'. The bottom of robe is decorated with traditional 'lishui' waves anchored by central mountain figure. From cropped sleeve to sleeve, the robe measures 43'' (109cm) and is 54'' (137cm) in length. Overall good condition with some losses and loose threads. Robe dates to late Qing Dynasty, likely Guangxu Period (1875-1908).
