Two pair of bookends including: A pair of metal faux bronze bookends in the form of Sphinx, mounted on cast iron bases, circa 1920 - each measures 7 5/8"L x 2 1/2"W x 5 1/2"H - minor wear to the bronze finish, very good condition; and a pair of WWII carved stone bookends with metal plaque imbedded that reads "London 1941 * Bombed Burned But Unbeaten" - probably fashioned stone from one of the bombed London buildings - very good condition - 6 1/8"H x 5"W x 2" thick. Provenance: From the Thomas & Gail Rockwell collection, LaGrangeville NY. Tom is the son of the renowned American artist, Norman Rockwell and the author or many children's books. His late wife Gail, was an artist-illustrator and the daughter of Arthur E. Sudler and Janet Whitson Sudler, both early 20th century artists - she illustrated several of her husband's children's books.
