Description
Two impressive hand carved marble planters on near matching marble bases, mid 19th century. The planters decorated with ram heads in the corners and carved fruit throughout; the marble stands holding the planters have relief carvings of fruit and acanthus with beaded sides - the bases of the same form, but slightly different heights and different carvings. Minor edge chips/wear and expected weathering - overall, the 4 pieces are in very good condition. The planters each 24"W x 15"D x 9 1/2"H; the stands measure 12" square at base - one stand is 18"H, the other 20"H. Provenance: From a local Pleasant Valley collection, family downsizing and moving to smaller quarters.
