Description
Group of Five European Textiles, 16th-19th C. This textile grouping features a notable French liturgical picture, that has exquisite metal thread embroidery and an appliquéd wool tapestry fragment. The depicted religious scenes, featuring Mary Enthroned with the infant Christ and another portraying Mary kneeling before the infant Christ, inscribed with the Latin phrase 'verbum caro fa[c]tum est' (The Word was made flesh). The ensemble also comprises a liturgical vestment and two altar cloths, each contributing to the rich tapestry of spiritual significance and artistic craftsmanship. Size: Ranging from 11'' x 11'' (28 x 28 cm) to 39'' x 25'' (99 x 64 cm). Provenance: Ex Yosi Barzilai collection.
