In the aftermath of the Dutch occupation in Indonesia, an influx of Indo-European batik makers established workshops in Pekalongan. The motifs of their batik pieces were notably influenced by the cultural interests of the Dutch during that period.This particular Kain Panjang, or rectangular cloth, is adorned with motifs inspired by card decks, reflecting the rising popularity of card games introduced to Indonesia by the Dutch.
