Description
Keffiyeh Tasseled Silk Shawl, Syria, Early 20th C. The Keffieh is a square-patterned men’s shawl worn throughout the Middle East, with Aleppo, Syria being the production center for the most elaborate and sumptuous versions. This fine example is a silk panel featuring a small black and white checkered field, polychrome striped borders, and beautiful large-scale tassels. The Keffieh can be worn either around the neck and shoulders or as a head covering. Size: 72'' x 64'' (183 x 163 cm). Provenance: Ex Yosi Barzilai collection.
