Description
Wrought by Elizabeth Marvel aged 11 years having a verse of "And now my soul another year of my short life is past I cannot long continue here and this may be may last" with trees, flowers, and dogs. 19th-C frame with gilt rose flower metal corner decorations. A quick genealogy search came up with a family from Kentucky with a possible maker named Elizabeth Marvel born 1809. Sight measures 12-1/4" x 8-1/2" and overall with the frame under glass 14" x 10-1/4" x 1". Light foxing and toning with some thread loss at R/S top corner along top edge and lwr L/S corner. Also a 1/4" hole in the center below the word "May" Not removed for inspection and has worm holes on both side rails of the frame. Woodard Collection.
