Beautiful and unusual watercolor on paper portrait of a young woman, 1966. The visible artwork measures approx. 28" x 19" (approx. 38" x 29" with matting and frame). Signed and dated in the top left-hand corner. Yehuda Vardi was born in 1933 in Iraq and grew up in Kibbutz Gesher and initially worked as a stage designer. His paintings were heavily inspired by Raul Wallenberg and the stories about the thousands of Jews he had saved during the Holocaust. Vardi died in 1990 under mysterious circumstances.
