Description
Northwestern United States, Alaska, Fairbanks region, Livengood, ca. mined in the 21st century CE. A raw quartzite stone nugget covered with velvety veins of one of the most desirable elements, gold, covering about 20% of the stone. The gold XRF tested between 90% and 91% (equivalent to 21K+ to 22K+); natural gold has high purity but needs to be melted and refined to achieve 24K. The Livengood Mining District is about 70 miles northwest of Fairbanks; most gold here is found in basal gravel and weathered bedrock by placer mining the alluvial deposits along the Livengood Creek.
