Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, likely Yucatan Peninsula, Maya, ca. 600 to 950 CE. A phallic effigy carved from a rounded red stone, incised to create a bulbous head. This may have functioned as like an amulet / fertility charm, or even perhaps as a pestle like tool. Phallus iconography is usually associated with fertility or power. Size: 3.25" L x 1.25" W (8.3 cm x 3.2 cm)
Provenance: private British Columbia, Canada collection, gifted from aunt in Tucson, Arizona, USA, acquired prior to 1994
