Description
Both silk taffeta: 2-pc ribbon stripe in green, tan & black w/ wide bateau neckline, bodice fullness into CF pleats, shaped manipulated gigot sleeve, knife pleated skirt, fragmented pelerine, late 1840s, B 32”, W 24”, L 52” (very altered esp bodice & & sleeve, broad discoloration, repairs to underarms, shattering to sleeve & pelerine, tiny holes, seam openings up to 4”); 1 woven w/ ombre striped plaid, copper colored silk taffeta plasteron w/ self-covered buttons, piped armscye, originally 1860s re-made c. 1878, B 30”, W 22”, L 50”, (broad discoloration, many seam openings up to 16”, 1.5” tear CF lap below placket, shattering, tiny holes, missing all closures) both fair. Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum to benefit collections care, preservation and future acquisitions.
