**Originally Listed At $125**

Central Africa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Songye peoples, ca. early 20th century CE. A fine seated figural statue, hand-carved from hard wood, depicting a fetish figure holding a small vessel atop an integral circular platform. Sloping shoulders trace upwards to an elongated head, and the minimalist countenance is defined by almond-shaped eyes, a broad triangular nose, full lips, and a bald pate. A carved recess atop the head may have once held an attached horn. Size: 3.375" W x 8.6" H (8.6 cm x 21.8 cm).

Provenance: ex-Adeon Gallery, Chicago, Illinois, USA acquired prior to 1970
