**Originally Listed At $250**

Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, Atlantic Watershed, ca. 1000 to 1400 CE. A hand-built pottery figure of a woman seated upon ample thighs. She holds both arms to her slightly distended abdomen - perhaps indicative of pregnancy - and has rounded breasts beneath sloped shoulders. Her raised head bears squinting eyes, a perky nose with delineated nostrils, a slit-form mouth, and pierced ears, all beneath a simple cap with a central cylindrical crest. Size: 3.4" W x 5.25" H (8.6 cm x 13.3 cm)

Provenance: private Leonard collection, Virginia, USA, acquired before 1979

Repairs to arms and head, with light resurfacing along break lines. Minor nicks to limbs, body, and head, with light encrustations, and softening to some finer details. Nice earthen deposits throughout.
