Near East, Israel / Palestine, Judea, ca. 42 to 43 CE. A leaded bronze coin known as a Mite, a coin mentioned by name in the Bible?s New Testament during a parable about a widow who gave all she had which consisted of 2 mites. This tiny mite, also known as the pruta, was the smallest bronze coin in the Jewish Holy Land during this period and they do not contain "graven images" or portraits of rulers. The obverse is a canopy and on the reverse are three grain ears. The coin is set in a modern silver-plated brass setting and strung on a cord as a wearable pendant. Size of coin: 0.56" Diameter (1.4 cm); pendant: 1" L x 0.69" W (2.5 cm x 1.8 cm)

Condition
Coin is rubbed and soft. Areas of green patina. Set in modern setting and strung on cord as wearable necklace. Cord can easily be swapped for a chain or other newer cord.
