Description:
Group of 3 photocopy process and one offset lithograph flyers. Two, 279x216 mm, 11x8½ inches, and the other 216x165 mm, 8½x6½ inches. Circa 1980-1985. Group includes: Mandiplite / The Grand Master Flash Show, Whiz Kid Rockmaster Scott, Touch of Class Disco, and The King of the Flyer still is . . . Buddy Esquire, the last being a promotion for the artist's own work.
Esquire was a self-taught artist who pioneered design of the hip-hop flyer in the early days of the art form. In a style he referred to as "Neo Deco" he was able to create eye-catching images at a much higher level than the community was accustomed to. In all, he designed over 300 handbills through the course of his career.
