Description
Leah Jumalu (1934-), Puvirnituq – a stonecut print entitled "Birds Stealing Kayak from Man". Leah participated in the initial printmaking venture in 1961 and this is one of the early prints produced under the newly established Povungnituk Cooperative Society with the Society name stamped on the paper in the upper right corner. During her career that lasted until 1985, Leah created almost 100 prints, most of them stonecuts, and she also “pulled” hundreds more for other artists. Her works have been exhibited since the 1960s in exhibitions around the globe and reside in major public and private collections. Signed and dated 1962, 12/30. 13.25" x 15.75" x 1".
