Stately, classical and massive 19th century Italian carved bust of The Apollo Belvedere on carved Carrara white marble cylindrical body base. Bust itsself measuring approx 25" tall x 21" wide and the pedestal approx 39" tall allowing for the overall size 65" tall exceeding over 5ft tall. A true statement and elegant display!! The Apollo Belvedere is a celebrated marble sculpture from classical antiquity. The work has been dated to mid-way through the 2nd century A.D. and is considered to be a Roman copy of an original bronze statue created between 330 and 320 B.C. by the Greek sculptor Leochares. Overall condition is good, some light signs of age and wear, appropriate for its age, mid 19th century.
