Mark Twain/Samuel Langhorne Clemens (American 1835?1910) handwritten and signed letter to Mr. Seaman, Louis Livingston Seaman (b.1851 - d.1932) dated January 18, "I thank you so much, but I shall doubtless be on the other side of the world at that time with my family. Shall be, if our plans do not fail us. I hope you will have a good time. Very sincerely yours, SL. Clemens", on Riverdale on the Hudson mourning stationary, framed.
Note:,The mourning stationary may be related to the death of the Twains' eldest daughter Olivia Susan Clemens (American 1872?1896). He and his wife rented the former home of publisher William Henry Appleton, Wave Hill, located at Riverdale on the Hudson, New York, from October 1901 through 1903. This letter references his trip to Italy in 1901.
