Description
STAMPED "COWDEN & WILCOX, / HARRISBURG, PA", PENNSYLVANIA DECORATED STONEWARE BATTER JUG, salt-glazed, "1 1/2" gallon capacity mark, ovoid form with flat-top rounded rim, open-loop handle supports, protruding vertical spout, applied arched handle at reverse base, and Albany-slip glazed interior. Bold brushed cobalt wreath encompassing spout, reverse featuring a three-blossom flower, additional cobalt below spout base, around supports, arched handle, across stamp and capacity mark. Original wire and wooden bail handle. Cowden and Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA. 1863-1881. 8 7/8" HOA, 6 3/4" D rim.

Condition
Excellent visual condition, having professional restoration to radial hairline on one side, a minute chip to rim interior, and a flake to base edge.
