"Gentlemen, Stop Your Engines" was the headline on race day.On Saturday, April 25th a heavy spring downpour caused havoc at Dallas International Motor Speedway delaying qualifying until Sunday. Of the cars that did make it to the track, Parnelli Jones was the fastest. The list of drivers on hand was a who's who of the racing world -- George Follmer, Dan Gurney, Peter Revson, Mark Donohue, Jerry Titus, and Parnelli Jones.As a result of Saturday's rain, there was standing water surrounding the track on Sunday morning causing the SCCA chief steward Stanfield to cancel the race leaving a healthy group of race cars, including Mustangs, Javelins, Challengers, Firebirds, Barracudas, and Camaros, waiting for the next race on the schedule.Offered here is a race poster, for a race that never happened.
