(2) Piece Mid-18th c. Blue & White Porcelain Teabowl and Saucer Set, in the Pagota Riverscape pattern, saucer with affixed paper label from the 1986 Christie's Nanking Cargo sale (lot 5064) on the base of the saucer, cup: 1 1/2" high, saucer: 4 3/4" diam.Laden with Chinese goods and enroute to the Netherlands, the Dutch East India ship Geldermalsen hit a coral reef and sank in the South China Sea on January 3, 1752. Much of the cargo, including over 150,000 pieces of porcelain, was recovered in 1985 and sold by Christie's Amsterdam on April 28-May 2, 1986.
