19th Century Japanese Black and Gold Maki-e Lacquer Locking Document Box Signed by Minota Nagahisa

For your consideration is a lovely 19th Century Japanese lacquer document box depicting cranes gathered by a stream lined with bamboo. The decoration on the top of the box is done with gold maki-e lacquer while the inside and bottom of the box display the more coarse nashiji lacquer techniques. The box is clearly marked by the artist in the middle right margin of the lid of the box.
Provenance: From a Retired Military Estate in San Antonio, Texas.
