Description
Ca. AD 1100-1200.
A flat-bottomed bronze dish inlaid with copper, of shallow form with its walls tapering to an everted rim. The exterior walls and the rim are adorned with rectangular-shaped panels of Kufic calligraphy interspersed with roundels containing vegetal motifs. The interior's decor features a depiction of a human figure sitting on the back of a quadruped animal.

Provenance: Property of a West London gentleman; previously in a collection formed on the UK/International art market in the 1990s.
