Description
Antique 1900s Native American leather buckskin fringe jacket or shirt with signed "Tigua" sterling silver buttons. The Tigua (Tiguex, Tiwa, Tihua) Indians are a federally recognized Native American tribe in the Ysleta section of El Paso, Texas. The Tigua are descendants of refugees from the Río Abajo or lower Rio Grande pueblos who accompanied the Spanish to El Paso during the Pueblo Revolt of 1680. Here we have a rare and well worn piece with vast historical significance. Measures: 42" chest, 40" waist, 26" total length.
Condition
Fair- good, you can tell it was often worn. Lots of wear and heavier staining at sleeves. A wonderful piece of history. Structurally sound no tears, strong but supple leather.
