Old fire god effigy vessel fragment, Maya, Early Postclassic period, 900-1200 CE, Central America, orangeware ceramic with mold made and incised features, in fine condition for a fragment. Showing a prominent nose with nose beads, heavily wrinkled face, open mouth and bearded chin of the male deity in his Postclassic version. A headband is shown with incised glyph- like elements. Strong mineral deposits, overall. A fragment of a larger effigy jar, but still rare and quite displayable. Sits up on its own. 5-1/2" in height x 4-5/8" width.
