Item Details
Description
Latin America, Mexico, ca. 1869 and 1944 CE. A lovely pair of ex-votos, both painted with images of people giving thanks for remedies from illnesses. Alternatively, the more petite ex-voto depicts a lone male figure holding a candle before the robed figure of Brother Antonio Margil. Size of larger: 10" W x 7" H (25.4 cm x 17.8 cm)

In the right corner of the image is Spanish text translating to: "Narciso Silva: thanks Friar Antonio Margil de Jesus for the great favor he did in giving him his health, after an illness he had and in testimony of gratitude I offer you this present. San Miguel de Allende February 9th of 1944."
