Description
Pre-Columbian, north coast Peru, Chavin, ca. 900 to 500 BCE. A fine stone amulet in the stylized form of a fish adorned with 2 large, annular eyes of inlaid obsidian, as well as incised striations forming a geometric design. The aquatic creature displays an open mouth and 2 back fins, one pierced with a drill hole for suspension. Size: 1.3" L x 1" W (3.3 cm x 2.5 cm)

One eye has been professionally reattached. Light surface wear as shown. Otherwise, mostly intact and wearable with an excellent presentation and nice preservation of detail.
