Collector's Lot of 5 Antique Chinese Textiles. Including: 1) Chinese Embroidered Rank Badge, 19th C. Silk embroidered silk. Size: 9'' x 9'' (23 x 23 cm). Chinese nonofficial woman’s formal, front facing rank badge. The dark blue ground is embroidered with silk worked in the forbidden stitch (also known as Peking stitch or French knot). Scattered design of stylized leaves and a small calligraphic center, all within a triple border. 2) Pair of Chinese Woven Dragon Panels, 19th C. Brown satin brocaded with metallic thread and a few spots of polychrome silk. Each rondelle encapsulates a pair of phoenix and five clawed dragon locked in fight.Size: Each: 10'' x 12'' (25 x 30 cm). 3) Chinese Small Kesi Panel, 19th C. The design of this small pictorial panel is executed in a kesi (or Kossu) which is a Chinese slit tapestry weaving technique. When done well, a kesi panel looks identical on both sides and one can see the vertical separation between the colors. It is a labor intensive technique that produces very fragile but very precisely drawn textiles. Size: 16'' x 9'' (41 x 23 cm). 4) Chinese Pictorial Embroidery Fragment, 19th C. Silk on silk.
