Lithograph on buff wove paper, 1937. 255x306 mm; 10x12 inches, full margins. Signed, titled, dated and numbered 27/50 in pencil, lower margin.
Other impressions of this print are in the collections of the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC, the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, and the Brooklyn Museum, New York.
After graduating from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1909, Markham not only worked as an artist but also as an actress. During the 1930s, Markham's prints focused on social realist scenes of New York. She worked in the WPA Federal Art Project's graphic arts division and also created artwork to exhibit at the 1939 World's Fair in New York.
