VACLAV BERNARD SZCZEBLEWSKI (POLISH)Bronze figure of a young German boy whistling with hands in his pockets.Represents "The Whistling Ship's Apprentice" design circa 1875Le Siffleur" remains one of the more popular bronzes from the late 19th centuryHe stands barefoot wearing a peasant type shirt loosely tucked into his worn and torn pants which are rolled up and tied at the waist by a piece of rope.He wears a cap with ball atop. 8.5" tall - 3" wide - 3" deepBoy stands on a round base which is signed "V Szczeblewski" Szczeblewski studied for 9 years at the Dresden Art AcademyHe exhibited regularly in the Paris SalonsCondition: This sculpture is in a very good condition.
