Description
Thrilling Wonder Stories began as a regular bimonthly and changed to monthly from December 1939 to April 1941, then back to bimonthly from June 1941 to August 1943. A quarterly schedule followed, from Fall 1943 to Fall 1946; then bimonthly December 1946 to August 1953. The last six issues from November 1953 to Winter 1955 were quarterly. It featured both new authors and perennial favorites such as Jules Verne and H.G. Wells; artist Frank R. Paul continued to provide stunning cover illustrations; and there were numerous "real world" features, such as "Science Questions and Answers" and "Science News of the Month, " influenced by Gernsback's personal conviction that science fiction had a place in "making the world a better place, " through an understanding, and extrapolation, of current scientific knowledge.
Included in this lot is August 1948 and Winter 1955. Both are graded as good age-appropriate condition with corner rubbing, edge wear and chipping, and creases.
