Extremely Unusual Early Persian American Brilliant Period Cut Glass Set

Item Details

Description

Here's something you don't see everyday (or ever). This is a matching decanter and pitcher set cut in the most intense Persian design I've ever seen. This set was likely cut by Hawkes or Dorflinger due to the neck (see lot 162) and handle treatment and general intensity of design. All pieces are monogrammed with a "G" in a shield on the front of each. Look at those awesome, fully cut pyramidal stoppers - just every touch of quality on these including the cut neck and handles! I have never seen Persian cut this finely - just look at the rim of the pitcher where it condenses down to tiny knobs and hobstars - wow!

Condition

Set has scattered fleabites throughout the cutting - shown in photos. Handled decanter - handled - 13 1/4" tall, 5 1/2" wide. Unhandled decanter - 13 1/4" tall, 5 1/2" wide. Pitcher - pitcher - 8 1/4" tall, 6" wide.
