Description
H-109 German Third Reich Army Pioneer Battalion 9 kettle drum skirt. An exceptional elaborate embroidery consisting of six panels - all with silver chain-stitch embroidery. Two panels have a 9" x 6 1/2" Army Eagle/swastika over a spray of oak leaf branches, Two panels have a 6 1/2" x 3 3/4" cypher of "PB" over "9" within a full silver oak leaf wreath, and two panels have silver chain stitched crossed anchors over a spray of oak leaf branches. Each of the panels is separated by a 2" wide silver bordered "shoulder board" shape divider with a large acorn shaped silver tassel. Overall, the skirt measures 17" x 92". The composition of silver embroidery against the black background creates a stunning display. With the exception of several "nicks" on the panels, the skirt is one of the finest drum skirts that we have seen in over 65 years of dealing in quality militaria. I
