Description
A pair of exquisite glazed alabaster amulets from ancient Egypt, representing powerful deities. The larger amulet honors Aker, depicted as twin lions, a symbol of the earth's horizon and guardianship between the celestial and the underworld. The smaller, intricately carved amulet portrays Sekhmet, the lioness goddess of war and healing, her visage emanating strength and protection. These amulets date to the New Kingdom period, a time when such items were believed to offer their bearers magical protection and connection to divine powers. The meticulous craftsmanship and serene glaze reflect the high regard for religious artifacts during the 18th to the 20th dynasties, where art and spirituality were deeply intertwined.
