Description
This Egyptian limestone seal is a relic of the New Kingdom, an era renowned for its advancements in the arts and administration. The obverse and reverse bear carved hieroglyphs, timeless communicators of a civilization steeped in complexity and grandeur. Seals such as this were instrumental in authorizing documents and securing possessions, imbued with the owner's identity and status. The intricate hieroglyphs, still sharp against the stone, would have left a clear impression, marking clay or wax with a signature that has transcended time. The patina and wear on this piece not only illustrate its age and authenticity but also add to the tactile connection between the present and the ancient world.
