Description

An Indian Bone and Exotic Hardwood Inlaid Rosewood Blanket Chest on Stand, Second Half 20th Century. The hinged rectangular molded lid enclosing an open box fitted with a shallow rosewood lift-out tray, raised on a rectangular molded out stepped stand with bandy legs and square feet.

Dimensions: Height 25in; width 40 3/4in; depth 22 3/4in.

Provenance: Property from a Local Estate.

Condition

Structurally sound. Sun fading throughout, especially to sides and top. The top with wear, lifting and small losses to the inlaid decoration throughout. There are areas of warping and buckling to the inlay. Liquid stains and minor discolorations. There is residue from an adhered paper label to the top. The interior lift-out tray with significant shrinkage and age cracks.
