Antique Shipibo-Conibo Peruvian Figural Vessel - A painted terracotta pottery effigy water vessel. Made by the female potters of the Shipibo Conibo tribe who live along the Ucayali River in the Amazon rainforest. This coil-made pot features a human face and is decorated with geometric tribal designs in buff, brown and orange colors. Some areas with semi-gloss finish. 9 3/8" h x 10 1/2" w. Provenance: Purchased in the 1970s from a Sarasota store that acquired these pots from John Easterling (2nd husband of Olivia Newton-John). Condition: normal wear appropriate for age and use; a few small chips to vessel rim, some rubbing and scuffs to painted surface.
