Description
An antique Russian Imperial set of eight white linen banquet napkins from the court of tsar Nicholas II. The linen damask napkins are adorned with repeated Imperial double headed eagle crest and crossed sword and sceptre with crown emblem. Each corner is adorned with a cipher of Nicholas II and dated 1914 to 1915. Dated 1914 to 1925. Provenance: Estate of Vincent Massey, Governor General, 1952 to 1959, Batterwood House, Port Hope, Ontario. Note: The three preceding lots were purchased in Russia and brought to Canada by Vincent and Alice Massey, massey Manufacturing Co, after 1917.
