In 1945 in WW II The United States and Japan were enemies. Hence WW II. The Baseball was popular in Japan even before the Babe Ruth tour. This card is an anomaly probably pulled from production. Most people think Jackie Robinson played his last game in 1956 wearing a Brooklyn Dodgers Jersey. But, Robinson played in Japan following that trying to mend relations. During the tour, Robinson was an ambassador. The games played in Japan were the last games he played. His last hit in uniform was in Japan. The Japanese artist who designed this card had a Warhol Pop Art style. . As colors fade with time, it is unique. Released in 1958 about a year and half after Robinson retired. It is an error card. Japanese characters at front give name of Roberto Barbon, Japanese black baseball player. And the name at the back of the Robinson card is Braves. There are only eight of these cards known in the world. One is being offered currently on E-Bay for one million dollars. Grades are rarely ideal as these cards were used in a game played by Japanese youngsters in a card game which calls for the cards to be "slammed" against the floor.
