Description
Pair of Mid-Century Modern tall ceramic folkware vases from Mashiko, Japan. Stoneware clay body with faceted decoration. Applied white slip with clear feldspathic glaze. Each stamped and with Otagiri Mercantile Company (OMC) sticker affixed to the underside. One vase is slightly taller than the other. These vases were from the late 40's, early 50's and considered hand-made folkware.
Otagiri Mercantile Company INC, “OMC” was a wholesale manufacturing company. Starting in 1948 began importing Japanese artworks as apart of the "Occupied Japan" from the end of WWII to 1952 when Japan regained its sovereignty. OMC was headquartered in San Francisco and was an importer and a distributor of porcelain, stoneware, and giftware until 1994.

Condition
There are no major chips, cracks, or losses. Very minor wear, mostly along the underside.
