Description
Collection of 3 hand colored copper-plate engravings of sea life including 1.) Plate of starfish and seahorses. Plate numbered XXVIII. 2.) Plate of horseshoe crabs and hermit crabs. Plate numbered VII. 3.) Plate of various crabs. Plate numbered V. All plates are hand colored and individually measure 12" x 7.5" (sight) and are housed in frames each measuring 18.5" x 13.75". These plates were part of the work "Historiae Naturalis De Piscibus Et Cetis Libri V" by John Johnston, published by Matthias Merian (the Elder) in 1657. Ex. Philadelphia Print Shop.
