The mahout (driver) of the elephant sits on the elephants neck and looks over his shoulder to watch. He holds an ankusha (elephant goad) in his left hand. The elephant has its trunk raised and is agitated due to the tiger attack. It has a richly decorated blanket under the howdah, which also has painted decoration.
